Hey!

My name is Alex. When I got married, I changed my photography business name to "Photography by Alex Ann", previously known as " Alex Cope Photography". On this page you can get to know me and what lead me to my passion of photography.

I am a small town country girl that enjoys adventuring through life with my husband, Hugh, our sons Hudson and Tayten, and our three fur-kids, Bo, Maizy, & Flyn. My husband and I both enjoy helping out on my family's small crop farm, where we also just built our new home. We love to travel, hunt, and shoot together and with our family. Whenever we have time, we enjoy finding new places to go and explore. We currently have a very large "Travel bucket list" that we have been slowly tackling.

As many of you know, I recently quit my day job to be a stay at home Mom and also allow for more time for all of my photography clients.
My Husband is my rock and biggest supporter. He has supported my dreams in this business since we met. With his love and support I am able to meet and photograph all the amazing people that I have these passed few years!
As you will learn below, my parents are the reason I got into photography. They also help out by watching our sons when needed and let me use their beautiful farm as an optional location for sessions! I appreciate their constant support so much.

Many of my clients ask how I got into photography...
In 2014, I had a very unfortunate accident barrel-racing and severely broke my back. Luckily my amazing doctor and his staff fixed me up, but he highly suggested no more horse back riding. Any one that knew me back then knew that horses and barrel racing were my life. If I wasn't at college, I was riding or traveling to a show/rodeo. So this was a new adjustment for both me and my family.
Once I was out of the hospital and recovering, my parents surprised me with my very first "high quality" camera, a canon 70D. They knew I always liked taking pictures and thought this could be a new hobby for me in my free time. I started out going to barrel races and taking pictures of all my friends running their horses. Little did I know then, that this would not only become one of my favorite hobbies, but also a second job.
After really growing a passion for photography, I took a few classes for photography at The Ohio State University while getting my Bachelor's degree in Agriculture. These photography classes really helped me understand my camera and how to properly use it!
Since then I have continued to upgrade my equipment and continue to watch online classes as well as pod-casts from fellow photographers to gain more knowledge on how I can better my work for all of you.

As far as my technique in photography...
I consider myself a natural light photographer.
I love to capture both the fun loving candids as well as posed photos. I aim to give you a variety of options to choose from and a large gallery, which is why I do not limit the number you get back.
I also make sure to continually upgrade my equipment as needed! And I have a bad habit of constantly buying props/decor, which you can also use at my location or I can bring to you :).
I hope you enjoyed learning a little about me and I hope I get the chance to work with you soon!
